Windscreen Wiper Repair

How about that teeny tiny bit of rain we had in Townsville just recently? Some of you may have noticed windscreen wipers are not working properly. After so many months without regular use the windscreen wipers on your car start to degrade.  If your wipers are streaking or jumping across your window or just not cleaning your windscreens you need new wipers.

People don’t realise how easy it is to replace your wiper blades.  All you need to do is call your favourite auto repair supplier and tell them the year make and model and they can supply you with a set of wipers.

First, pull the entire wiper assembly up, so that they remain vertical. Then turn the blade next to the arm so that the hinge is visible. You’ll notice a small tab on one side of the hinge. Pull that tab out, you’ll hear a snap, and then pull the wiper down, towards the car.

Once that the blade and arm are separated, remove the blade through one of the holes on the blade. With the blade removed, the wiper arms are now unprotected metal, so don’t leave the arm up.

Next, take the new wiper, and insert the arm through the appropriate hole, so that it pushes the actual wiper up. Read the inspection of your new wiper blades as some differ as to how they are inserted into the wiper arm.
